Mangalore, Feb 5: Vikram Saralaya, top most active FIDE rated player of the combined districts has won Premier league category in the 2nd DCS Circuit Chess Tournament organised on Feb 4 at DCS, Mannagudda.

He scored effortless 9 points in 9 rounds to clinch the title. Second place was bagged by Rathnavarma Bunnu from Dharmasthala with 7 points. Another FIDE rated player in the field Nihal Manjunath, Lourdes Central School had to be content for 3rd place with 6.5 points.

Ten invited senior and junior players have taken part in this category which was conducted in round robin system.

In another category, 7 round Swiss leagues was won by Suraj Prabhu, Canara Main with 6.5 points. Pampa Peraje, Konaje won the 2nd place scoring 6 points. Rammohan Bhandary of Lourdes Central School scored 5.5 points and was placed 3rd. Uthkarsh Salian of Lourdes Central School was awarded best under 10 player.

Thirty two invited junior players had taken part in this category. Prizes were distributed by Captain Walter Pereira, GENMAR-USA.
