Manjhi fasts to protest annulment of cabinet decisions

Patna, March 9 (IANS): Former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Monday observed a day-long fast to protest against the new cabinet's decision to annul 34 decisions taken by his government.

"We protested against the Nitish Kumar government's decision to annul 34 cabinet decisions by me," Manjhi told the media at the Gandhi Maidan here, where workers of his newly launched Hindustani Awami Morcha (HAM) took part in the protest.

Manjhi said they will "expose the anti-people face of the Nitish Kumar government" and will also hold a dharna to protest annulment of the decisions.

"We will organise a big rally in Patna on April 20," he said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had earlier justified the annulment of Manjhi's decisions.

"It was a right step to correct the wrong-doings of the previous government of Manjhi, who took several decisions in a hurry, ignoring established rules," he said.

Nitish Kumar also said Manjhi betrayed the people of the state by taking several decisions without realising their consequences.

He told the media he would review all decisions without any "prejudice or ill-will".
