World Architecture Festival comes to Delhi

New Delhi, March 10 (IANS): Photographs and designs of over 350 architecture marvels from 65 countries will be on display in the national capital on March 11 to aspire architects to appreciate originality and think beyond the obvious, the organisers said on Tuesday.

This exhibition is a part of the 16-city design tour of the World Architecture Festival in India to showcase the best in global architectural design to Indian architects.

The design tour has already covered Jaipur, Chandigarh and Indore and will be travelling to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, among other Indian cities.

"The idea of bringing this tour in India is to help aspiring and practising architects of the country to appreciate originality. There is a need to think beyond heritage in order to create modern architecture which will be regarded as iconic in times to come," said Vinit Kumar Tiwari, country head (Ply & Board) of event organiser Greenply Industries, in a statement.

"We feel the architect and student community here are very receptive to international designs and architecture," he added.

Images of works like "The Chapel" in Vietnam, designed by a21studio which has been adjudged the World Building of the Year in the World Architecture Festival in Singapore, The Carve from Norway, Split House from China, Dune House from New Zealand, Liberty Place from Australia are a part of the display.
