Ludhiana gang rape: Second of three accused arrested

Ludhiana, March 10 (IANS): Police here on Tuesday said the second of the three accused in the gang rape of a 21-year-old woman has been arrested.

Sunny was among the three accused in the gang rape of the woman. Police had arrested the first accused, Badal, on Monday.

Police said a hunt was on to nab the third accused, Monu.

The woman was abducted by the accused in their car late on Saturday night from Rajguru Nagar as she was walking back home.

The woman, who hails from Himachal Pradesh, works as a house-keeping staff at a five-star hotel here.

Two of the accused, according to the woman, took turns to rape her while the third, who drove the car when the crime was being committed, had bitten her.

The woman told police that the accused had threatened her into submission to rape by saying she would meet the same fate as the December 16, 2012, Delhi gang rape victim if she resisted.

While Badal belongs to Ludhiana in Punjab, Sunny and Monu hail from neighbouring Haryana.

Police investigation has revealed that all three had a criminal past in petty crimes like looting and snatching.

Police identified the accused from the description given by the woman.
