Mumbai, Feb 7: Geleyara Balaga Vasai Taluk organized ‘Karnataka Cup – 2007’ cricket tournament on Tuesday February 6 at Vasai (E) here.
The week – long tournament was inaugurated by Navaghar Manikpur Parishad president Narayan Mankaar.
Buntara Sangha Mumbai vice - president Aikala Harish Shetty bowled the first delivery while Vasai Parishad vice – president Sagar Mahambre batted, thus setting – off the ‘cricket week’ to a start.
Tulunad Bunts Vasai taluk president Karnire Vishwanath Shetty, Vasai Karnataka Sangha president Vishwanath Shetty and journalist Rons Bantwal were present as chief guests.
Sixteen teams will participate in the tournament.
Coordinator Karnire Shridhar Shetty, Vasai Hotels’ Association president Jagannath Rai, entrepreneurs Karunakar Amin, Joseph Furtado, Anil Rai, Ratnakar Shetty, Sunder Shetty and Suresh Shetty were present.
Chief organizer Chandrakanth Vittal welcomed. Chandrashekar Puthran compered the programme.
The first match was between Madhura Cricketers and Nallasopara Friends.
