No move for night landing facility at Kullu airport


Shimla, March 12 (IANS): There is no proposal to install night landing equipment at the Kullu airport in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh informed the assembly on Thursday.

"The government is considering expansion of the airstrip at Bhuntar (near Kullu), but there is no proposal to provide night landing facility there," he said in a written reply.

The chief minister said IIT Roorkee has conducted a report relating to its expansion.

"The government is reviewing the report," he added.

Kullu airport is connected to Delhi by regular flights. he state's two other airports are located near Shimla and Dharamsala.

Shimla's table-top airport, located 2,196 metres above sea level, has been closed since September 2012.
