Congress workers hold up trains in Agra

Agra, March 12 (IANS): Congress workers on Thursday stopped two goods trains and five passenger trains at Agra's Raja ki Mandi railway station as a "symbolic protest" against the BJP-led central government's policies.

Congress leaders said the trains were stopped to protest amendments to the land acquisition bill, over safety of women, against corruption and anti-farmer policies of the Narendra Modi government.

The agitators were led by district Congress president Dushyant Sharma.

Trains were also stopped for a while at the Bhuteshwar station in Mathura.

Railway officials said that since it was a symbolic protest and there was no damage to property, no case was registered.
