Woman legislator from the Left bit me: Congress MLA

Thiruvananthapuram, March 13 (IANS): Amidst the pandemonium that broke out in the Kerala assembly on Friday, a Congress legislator alleged that he was bitten by Jameela Prakasham, a woman legislator from the Left.

"I was standing beside Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, trying to protect him, when this happened," said Congress legislator K. Sivadasan Nair showing the alleged bite mark.

The Left legislators threw out the speaker's chair and scattered the electronic equipment and his computer.

However, despite all efforts of the opposition, Finance Minister K.M. Mani managed to present his 13th state budget amid the unruly scenes.

Trouble was brewing since Thursday afternoon when all the Left legislators stayed back in the assembly for the night to ensure that Mani was not allowed to enter the assembly.

They have been accusing him of taking a bribe of Rs.1 crore to reopen the closed bars in the state, and have demanded his resignation.

Mani also spent the Thursday night in his cabin in the assembly premises ahead of presenting the budget on Friday.
