New Delhi, March 13 (IANS): The opposition in the Rajya Sabha questioned the government on Friday over a map in an RSS mouthpiece showing parts of Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan.

Raising the issue during zero hour, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said the "RSS-BJP" government has been in the forefront of protests whenever anyone has called Kashmir a part of Pakistan.

"Jammu and Kashmir is the crown and all Indians... This RSS-BJP government has been on the forefront to protest whenever any magazine has said Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, or Kashmir is a part of Pakistan," Azad said.

His "RSS-BJP government" comment was met with protests from members on the ruling benches, who said no one in the government belongs to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

"If someone (from government) is seen at one of the parades next time with... ask why is he there," Azad said in response.

"RSS mouthpiece Organiser has called parts of Jammu and Kashmir a part of Pakistan," he added.

Responding to this, union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said it was not the view of the government.

"The article in Organiser that is being mentioned here, we will probe it. This is neither the view of the government, nor the party or the Sangh (RSS)," he said.

A map published in the latest issue of the RSS mouthpiece Organiser has showed large parts of Jammu and Kashmir in Pakistan.

Magazine editors were quoted in a report as saying the map was sourced from the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) website.

Under the Indian laws, publication of maps depicting inaccurate external boundaries is a cognizable offence, under the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1961, with imprisonment for a term which may extend up to three years, or with fine, or with both.
