Washington, March 14 (IANS): Former Indiana Pacers centre David Harrison found a job at fast food chain McDonald's about two years ago after he helped Guangdong Southern Tigers win the Chinese domestic league and now is still struggling to make a living.

The 32-year-old said almost all of his basketball salary is gone and he can not find a job. Two years ago, Harrison' credit card was rejected while trying to buy his son a meal at a McDonald's and the manager recognised him and helped him get a job, reports Xinhua.

"People were showing up trying to take my car. My house was in foreclosure. I didn't have any income. I just had everything going out. I have child support to one son. I have a really big family and I have to take care of them, even though I'm not playing in the NBA. I needed money," Harrison said.

Harrison was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2004 NBA, averaging 5 points and 2.9 rebounds over four seasons with the Pacers and became a free agent following the 2007-08 season.

He then went to China to become a member of the Beijing Ducks for the 2008-09 season and played with the Guangdong Southern Tigers for the next two years to help them win the championship before playing for Tianjin Ronggang for one season.

He last appeared at the Dallas Mavericks' summer league in 2012 and has not received any calls from NBA teams thereon nor from any overseas teams.
