Mangalore, Feb 9: The second polio programme will be held on Sunday February 11, Monday February 12 and Tuesday February 13 in the district in order to prevent polio.

This was announced in a press conference by deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao here on Friday February 9 morning.

He informed that a total of 921 polio booths will be set up in the district out of which 741 will be in the rural areas.  The polio driver will also be conducted through mobile booths which will be set up in transit points such as railway station, bus stands and at Karavali Utsav premises at Lalbagh.

He further brought to the notice of the gathering that during the first polio drive the district had achieved 98.98 successes in administering polio drops to children.

Deputy commissioner said that the volunteers who go door-to-door to administer polio drops at times have difficult times owing to negligence by the parents. Therefore he urged the parents to be a little more cooperative in order to achieve success in the second polio drive and realizing the dream of poli0-free society.

DHO Jagannath was also present at the press conference.
