Arrest warrant reissued against Pakistan Taliban chief

Islamabad, March 14 (IANS): An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Pakistan on Saturday reissued arrest warrants against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) chief Fazlullah and its spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid and other nine accused in the Karachi airport attack case and adjourned the hearing.

According to the details, at least three criminals -- Sarmad Siddique, Nadeem and Asif Zaheer -- have already been arrested, Khyber News reported.

The Sindh interior department has requested the court to hold the hearing of the case in jail, as the case is highly sensitive.

Earlier, on December 20, the ATC issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Fazlullah, spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid and nine others for storming the Karachi airport in June 2014.

On January 15, the court declared Fazlullah a proclaimed offender in the Karachi airport attack case.

At least 10 militants of TTP armed with automatic weapons, a rocket launcher, suicide vests and grenades attacked Jinnah International Airport on June 8, 2011 and killed 26 people and injured 18.
