14 booked for church vandalism in Haryana, cross replaced with Hanuman idol

Haryana, Mar 16 (Agencies) : Haryana police Saturday booked 14 people on charges of vandalising an under-construction church in Kaimri village of Hisar district.

The case was registered on a complaint lodged by Father Subash Chand of Williwarsh Church in the village. He alleged that the accused broke Christ’s cross and installed a flag depicting Ram.

Police said that on March 6, a group of youths entered the plot where the church was being built, and forcibly installed a Hanuman idol there. Chand has alleged that the accused threatened him with dire consequences if he proceeded with the construction.

A case was lodged against 14 people under Sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 153A (promoting enmity between groups), 295 (destroying, damaging a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class of persons), 380 (theft in a building), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. “Inquiry is on. Action will be taken against those found guilty. So far, the situation is peaceful and there is no law and order problem in the village, a senior Haryana police officer said.

Shettre, this is the whole problem. We keep talking about religion in India. In the west when VHP spreads Hinduism and people of other faith starts following Hinduism we have no problem but when Hindus leave their religion we have problems. Why this double standard?? Why cant we keep our religion in our home like Singaporeans at least and think an=bout India. Prabhu, I never said RSS didn't say Bharat Mata ki Jai but I said it did not teach me to say Garv se kaho hum Bharatiy hai. They are 2 different things.

Most of my friends & colleagues are Hindus,they are a family to me.....few of them are even indoctrinated by these extremes views, of these organizations, privately they are mystified.. disgusted on viewing the ugly episodes... i hope & pray that despite our difference we will overcome caste, creed,language, religion & will stay united & prosperous for a better India....

More than 200 temples robbed or vandalized in Delhi alone in last one year......but no where you see any attention.....U read Udayavani daily, at least u will find one theft or vandalization of temple or daivasthana in our DK/Udupi dist's alone.....but nowhere u read about this....But when some disgruntled watchman throws a stone at his employer out of disgust, the same becomes communal & headlines......This is Indian sickularism......We fully understand the pain of hurt sentiments when someone's object of worship is damaged since what we worship as god is being stolen & killed daily.........

So sad to see so much hatred among religions in this forum. People resorting into personal attacks each others religion. It is not politicians who create rift, its us. All the people who are commenting ill here blaming each others religion, just give yourselves few minutes and go through the comments in the forum. If you dont feel shame on the way this virtual communal riot that takes place during every news where religion is involved, then you have no moral right to question the wrong doings of these fringe elements. And you guys call yourselves educated.
When I roam around in other cities I always compare them with Mangalore and feel proud how great my city is, and then I read the comments here and all that feeling vanishes.
If you want to change your city and country, start it with yourself.
Why cant we show the same unity we showed in the news concerning 'Neera extraction' here also? is it so difficult?

It is too terribly and bewildering to read the news, since the BJP came into power at New Delhi, the minority Christians are being targeted as a shooting target by the illiterate and jobless street rowdies all over India especially in the northern States.

Now in Haryana, eating or carrying beef will put that person into jail for 10 years. Where India is headed? the same law may be enacted in Gujarat with 20 years prison life for carrying or eating beef?

Mr. Prabhu, being a Hindu, I do not agree with you. if you're a Hindu and you are strong in your belief then no one can loosed your faith. Can you confess here how many times you're asked to convert by Christians or Muslims? There are millions of Hindus who studied in Christian schools and get one of them to say they were asked to convert. If people want to convert after believing that my own faith is not good and I like the other faith, then it is the fault of the original faith and every one have the right to choose the path they want to walk through (just like every one has the right to wear cloths of their choice or eat of their choice) The problem with people like you who are even inferior to Taliban is that you do not respect others choices. Even a school have to ask permission for their educational tour from this Indian Taliban. Wait for a year or 2 and if this is not stopped now, you yourself will find it hard to live peacefully because you have to eat and drink what they tell you. If you are talking about common civil code, I want to see that each and every Indian is treated equally. If Indians are treated fairly abroad (when they form Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Osho Rajaneesh, Swami Narayan to name few) and people convert to Hinduism, they don't see it as problem. By your logic of conversion and Hinduism in danger, then now India should have had 50% Christians.

Do you remember what your ancestors were before they turned 'Prabhu' ? I am sure they are not termed by 'Brahmin' 'Kshatriya' 'Vaishya' or 'Shudra' ? You may not even be in a time zone to recall how many generations before they adapted GSW denomination ? As such, if you are told that your ancestors converted due to allurance, would you agree ?

Similarly, all those are here on the website are converted to their present religion, at one or the other time. Just like the Tribal people in the interior of habitats who have their own belief and worship. They NOT Hindus nor any other religion.

Because ancient Akhand-Bhaarat had no religion. They passed from Stone Age, Iron Age and other epochs to present civilization. Nobody knows which of them were influenced by Aryans, Moguls, British, Portuguese, French, Dutch, son on.

So, please don't go by your theory of allurement, if that had worked, Christians in India would not have been less than 3% of the population.

The kind of threat you are facing, we as a denomination of Christians too face but our strong faith kept us intact.

Secondly, go to the habitats of the tribal and see what kind of deity they worship. They project a piece of stone, wood or a caricature made by themselves to resemble a God/ess of their imagination. Their images do not resemble Ram/Krishna/Shiva or Vishnu. They don't chant Mantra nor verses of any holy scriptures. No, deep, nor dhoop. Nor they raise 'aarti' to their objects.

If you are still believing that the tribal people are Hindus, Kudos to the great knowledge you are harbouring.

But the rest of Christians who are in India are as Indians as any other Hindus like me and together we will see to it that your prediction is wrong.

When you are portraying one stone pelting incidence as an attack on christians in India, you are forgetting thousands of churches are safe because of the presence of moderate Hindus around.

About conversion - my point of view, it is better to mind our own business. If someone turns to other religion out of one’s own wish then that should be documented through legal way, so as not to throw the blame on religious organizations. I do not think it is possible to force anyone to change the religion. May be outwardly accepted but who can see supposedly converted persons heart. People can fool to have some monitory benefits. I personally have a burning issue about changing the religious faith from one denomination to another.
Let us hope that Mr. Modi will react very strongly.

Please don't over react. These type of incidents where happening from before but no media was covering it. Now the media is actually trying to create misunderstandings between religions simply by making this a big issue. We have very strong faith and it cannot be spoilt by this type of incidents. And secondly we are peace loving people who have not been involved in any attacks so let us show it through our actions. There have always been fights between many religions but never with ours. Now someone is trying to create tentions between our religion and others so that our peace also leaves us and we become like animals. So lets not do that. Lets not allow the other people to over take our peaceful life. Lets show them we are HUMANS and what may come we will always remain that way. We have been taught to love and not to hate. We have been taught to forgive not retaliate. I have so many friends of different religions who are so nice and dont even have any such mentality.Majority of the hindus are peace lovers. These type of wrong doings are done by uneducated and uncultured people. So we cant blame the whole community nor is our PM supporting them. Its the Sangh Parivar and those who take enlightenment from these Sanghs that don't believe that conversion (forceful or otherwise) is not incited by Christianity as much as communal disharmony is sowed by the groups.

At the same time, they should understand that tribal people are not inheritance of Hindus, they are a group with their own belief and worship. It is same conversion tactics that Hindus apply on tribal community that you guys think Christians adapt on other areas.

Friends, don’t comment as if Modi has gone and vandalized the church. Do not expect him to make a statement on each cases of stone pelting on temples and churches. He has made it clear recently that his belief is nation first and development for all.

Pat 60 years Hindus have been a mere spectator to all the minority appeasement policies of Congress govt. All the Hindus have lived with that. Now when the regime changed, some fringe groups thought that it was their own government and it will protect them in case they avenge the minorities. That is wrong in this case already arrests have been made.

Though Hindus are unhappy about the appeasement politics, majority of us are tolerant, love to live in peace with all communities and condemn wrong doings irrespective of the religion. India is built on the basis of a constitution that promises liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship. You are none to ask citizens to be thankful for the present state in India than what is happening in Pakistan or Saudi, Egypt now Iraq Syria Yemen. You would have given one thought to Hindus earning their bread in Arab countries before you gave an example of these countries. Going by your perception, India should have been ruled by religious fundamentals torturing followers of the other, while one is in ruling. Please come out of the mentality that your faith has a right to exist at your wish, but others should submit to your tortures, just because similar practice is happening in the countries you have mentioned.

India is a Democratic country and has a government voted by her people. Until that continues, you have no right to defend when a Church or Mosque is attached and vice-verca.

As expected frustrated bunch of loosers supported by their dongi party trying their best to defame Bjp govts and the chaddiless like Perinje types doing their usual raga of minorities not safe after Modi blah blah. I wonder where do they teach these people all this gimmick, first one of their men attack religious place then these chaddiless supporters pour our streets and social media to defame Modi Bjp rss etc and shout their usual minorities are jot safe Jap. This act of hostility itself will help more hindus to stand by Bjp in future and truth behind these attacks to defame Bjp will be out very soon.

In Pakistan church bombings you don't see much comments from these chaddiless people here they spewing venom every 5 minutes.

Do not think that people are like you to belive your nonsense. Like you said new Govt is formed. So even if we have believe you, then no need of polarizing anymore as the mission is accomplished. There is no election in Haryana also. So why does BJP want to invite the warth of people now ?

On the other hand your congress is the absolute gainer with these incidents so that now they can claim, Haryana was safe even though Hooda & Vadra were grazing the resources but now after BJP coming to power, " minorities are not safe blah blah.. and try creating more insecurity to the minorities so that they can encash their votebank again."

Babri Masjid is a present and reality.Ram temple on same place is a myth?You may quote verdict of Court for that we have to bow our head because we are living in democracy.There are controversies with in about the exact place of Ram Janma Bhoomi which I don't want to go.
