IGIA adjudged best airport in Central Asia, India region: DIAL


New Delhi, March 16 (IANS): The national capital's IGI Airport been adjudged the best in the central Asia and India region at the 'World Airport Awards 2015' organised by the world's largest airport customer satisfaction survey - Skytrax.

The Delhi International Airport (DIAL), which operates IGIA, said Monday said that the airport also won another award for the best airport staff in the region.

"A global recognition for our friendly and helpful staff that hosts nearly 40 million passengers per annum (mppa) only deepens our belief in the core Indian value of 'Atithi Devo Bhava' or a 'Guest is akin to God',” DIAL chief executive I. Prabhakara Rao said.

DIAL pointed-out that the '2015 World Airport Awards' which was held last week were based on 13.02 million survey questionnaires completed by 112 different nationalities from May 2014 to January 2015. The survey covered a total of 550 airports worldwide.

DIAL added that the 'World Airport Awards' are a global benchmark of excellence, and widely known as the 'passengers choice awards'.

Earlier, IGIA had been adjudged as the second best in the 25-40 million passengers per annum (MPPA) category in the world in the Airports Council International's (ACI) airport service quality (ASQ).
