India, Costa Rica discuss regional issues


New Delhi, March 16 (IANS): India and Costa Rica on Monday discussed important regional and multilateral issues, including New Delhi's ongoing engagement with Latin American countries and regional groupings.

The Indian delegation at the second round of the India-Costa Rica foreign office consultations here was led by Special Secretary (Americas) R. Swaminathan while Vice Minister of Foreign Relations Alejandro Solano Ortiz led his country's delegation, an official release said.

The entire gamut of bilateral relations including political, commercial and trade, financial, technical and other areas of cooperation were discussed during the meeting to further broaden and strengthen cooperation.

The two sides also discussed important regional and multilateral issues including India's ongoing engagement with the Community of Latin American Caribbean States (CELAC) and the Central American Integration System (SICA), the release said.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Foreign Service Institutes of India and Costa Rica
