Mangalore, Feb 11: A debate on `Trimester system and experiences of the teachers' was held on Sunday at Ganapathi Pre University College here.

Participated by several teachers the common feedback was that the system had failed to reach its goal. The system which was to bring about a child-centered learning pattern has remained teacher-centered, the teachers voiced.

The complex system has made students depend on teachers more and more, while the earlier system was child friendly, he said one of the teachers. This was countered by Renjala, Moodambailu Adynadka School retired teacher Krishna Shastry Balila who said that the trimester system called for teachers to be more professional and hold the ability to perform their duties under pressure.

The discussion was organized by the Shikshanasaktara Mukta Vedike Sangaathi as a part of its decennial celebration.
