Kanajar, Feb 11: The feast of Our Lady of Lourdes was celebrated here on Sunday, Feb 12 on a grand scale by the parish community of Kanajar. 

 

 

The whole of Kanajar was in a festive mood throughout the day.   Devotees, including the non-Catholics, gathered at the church from morning 7am onwards to light candles and offer prayers.

 

 

The Holy Mass at 8am was celebrated by Fr Alwyn D'Cunha, the parish Priest of Kanajar. The Parish Pastoral Council members and the sponsors were honored at 10am before the ceremonial mass.

 

 

The solemn Eucharistic Celebration began at 10.15 am. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Principal, Pompei Collage Kirem was the main celebrant. Fr Valerian D'Souza, Parish Priest of Moodubelle and the Episcopal Vicar for Udupi region was the guest of honor. Many guest priests also joined in the Eucharistic Celebration.

 

 

After the Holy Mass, Fr Valerian Mendonca was honored by Fr Alwyn D'Cunha in recognition of his wonderful gift of music and hymns and  for composing a beautiful hymn in honor of our Lady of Lourdes.

 

 

Brother Denzil Crasta conducted melodious choir, which was appreciated by all.

On this auspicious occasion of the feast, Kanajaronline.com which brings the flavor of Kanajar to the online community celebrated its 1st anniversary.
