April-December gold imports stood around $26 bn


New Delhi, March 17 (IANS): India imported gold worth nearly $26 billion during the April-December period of the current fiscal 2014-15, parliament was informed on Tuesday.

Around 664.29 tonnes of gold worth $25.74 billion was imported during the period, Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.

India exported 38.11 tonnes of gold during the nine month period, worth $1.55 billion.
