Kundapur: Illegal sand mining - five trucks seized

Kundapur, Mar 18: Geologist in the department of mines and geology, Lata Kulkarni, raided a spot on the riverbank under Herikkudru Bridge in the outskirts of the town on Monday March 16, and seized five trucks which were found to be loading sand without possessing any licence to do so.

The five trucks reportedly are owned by Dinakar Shetty, Bhaskar Kharvi, Uday, Manjunath, Sabbir Ahmed Hubli, Siddappa Kallatagi, Jagadish from Hubballi, and Basavanth Nemappanamani Sirsi. The trucks along with loaded sand were seized.

A case was registered against the truck owners at the local police station.
