Mamta launches digitised ration cards in Bengal


Kolkata, March 18 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday launched digitised ration cards in the state, estimated to benefit more than five crore people.

"Today, we also launched Digitised Ration Cards for the first time in the state. More than five crore beneficiaries will get Digitised Ration Cards soon, which will significantly strengthen the public distribution system network," she said in Facebook post.

Banerjee also said that five critical care units in government hospitals at Alipurduar, Basirhat, Uluberia, Tamluk and Asansol and one high dependency unit in Haldia were also inaugurated.

"Patients will get free treatment from all these emergency medical facilities," she said.
