Mangalore, Feb 12: The ICYM affiliated youth association prominently known as the Pompei Youngsters Club, Kaikamba (PYC) celebrated its 34th anniversary function on Sunday, Feb11 at Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur Kaikamba.
The celebration commenced at 7.30 am with a celebration of Holy Mass by parish priest Fr Paul Rego, who is also the spiritual director of PYC.
More than 800 faithful gathered in the church. It was a joyful scene to watch all the active members of the PYC greeting each other on the occasion.
The cultural programme commenced at 6.30 pm at the beautifully decorated stage – ‘PYC – Rangmanch’, which is opposite to the church.
Wilfred Pinto, Honorary Member PYC, Alternate Director of Manasa Water Park, Pilikula and former ICYM Diocese President, Roshan Madtha, convener of the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of ICYM, James D’ Souza, PYC’s president and Gilroy Martis General Secretary were present on the stage.
James D’ Souza welcomed the gathering and Gilroy Martis presented the annual report, in which she highlighted the various activities and performances of PYC during the year 2006 - 2007.
The parish priest and the chief guests expressed their delight on the wonderful works and great efforts of PYC members rendered to the society and offered their valuable guidance for their future growth and talents enhancement.
Manuel Patrao, the vice-president proposed the vote of thanks and expressed sincere gratitude for the generous contribution from all the sponsors and donors.
After the formal programme an entertainment-filled evening was presented by PYC members with scintillating dances, mimicry, fashion show and games.
Some of the honorary members too came together with a performance, which gave an additional delight to the audience. This was followed by a Konkani comedy written by Claud D’Souza and directed by Jerald Rodrigues (Jerry Master) was presented by the members of PYC ‘Problema Voir Problem’ with rib-tickling jokes and witty dialogues.
Talented youngsters of PYC Deepak Andrade and Alba Lobo were the masters of ceremony.
