Udupi, Feb 12: A workshop on noted director Girish Kasaravalli's films was inauguruted at the MIT auditorium here on Sunday February 11.
The two-day workshop has been organised by the Manipal Film Study Centre (MFSC), a unit of Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) in association with Centre for Humanities, Manipal University.
Speaking after inaugurating the workshop, Kasaravalli said that the visual media has a lasting impression on people’s minds and hence the government should step in to control the content shown in cinema and television.
He also stressed on the need to include cinema as a subject of study at the high school level.
Among those present were MIC associate professor Varadesh Hiregange who welcomed the gathering, MIC director Prof Buroshivadas Gupta and St Aloysius College Journalism department head Fr Richard Rego.
The workshop will include screening of Kasaravalli’s movies Dweepa, Hasina and Nayi Neralu followed by an in-depth discussion on the same.
