Junior national hockey from April 1


New Delhi, March 19 (IANS): The fifth season of Hockey India (HI) Junior National Championship will start from April 1 and will witness 36 teams battling it out for the title.

The 36 teams will be divided into two divisions -- A and B. Division A consists of 16 teams, further divided into four pools with four teams each, and Division B will see 20 teams further divided into four pools with five teams each.

The matches will be played in a phased manner with Division B first completing its matches from April 1 to 12. Then Division A will play their matches from April 14 to 22 in Mysuru.

The inaugural match will be played between Mumbai and Goa in Division B. Defending champions Steel Plant, in Pool A, will take on Maharashtra on April 14.
