Mangalore, Feb 14: The sleuths of District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) recovered an ancient bronze idol of a deity and arrested two persons in this connection at Urlandi in Kasaba village of Puttur taluk on Tuesday.

According to the police, the accused were reportedly trying to solicit a prospective buyer for the idol, weighing 80 kg and valued at Rs 2.5 lac. The accused have been identified as Wilfred D'Souza of Urlandi and Muhammad Ali of Killuru village in Beltangady taluk, the police said.

B Dayananda, Superintendent of Police, said that the DCIB team was on the look out for two other accused who were reportedly involved in this attempt to sell the idol.
