Moodbidri: Bolero vehicle hits and kills woman crossing road

Moodbidri, Mar 20: A woman crossing the road after alighting from a bus near Ashwathapura Cross Sampige here on Wednesday March 18 was hit by a Mahindra Bolero vehicle. She sustained grave injuries and lost her life.

The victim has been identified as Janaki (55), wife of Damu Gowda from Vantimaru within Tenkamijar gram panchayat. Janaki was a housewife, while Damu is a farmer and agricultural labourer.

Janaki was crossing the road from the rear side of the bus that had stopped, on Wednesday morning. The driver of the Bolero vehicle perhaps could not see her as the view was blocked by the bus. Janaki suffered grievous injuries on the spot. She died while being taken to a private hospital in Mangaluru immediately.

The Moodbidri police have registered a case against driver of the vehicle, Vijay.
