Udupi, Feb 14: Thieves who broke open into a house at Airody near Brahmavar here have decamped with valuables worth Rs 15,000 on Sunday February 11 night.

The thieves broke open into the house of one Suresh Shenoy behind Airody gram panchayat when there was no one in the house.  All the members of the family had gone to attend a function in Mangalore when the theft took place.

Sources said that theft had taken place in Suresh's house on the same day in 2006 also.  It could be said that the thieves had their anniversary celebrations this year.  While the thieves had decamped with a gas cylinder last year, they have decamped with valuables worth Rs 15,000 this year.

The theft came to light only on Tuesday February 13 morning when the family members returned.  The thieves have stolen several thousands of rupees in cash, a few coins of gold and silver.

The Brahmavar police have registered a case in this regard.
