Udupi, Mar 23: In an incident which occurred at Nooji in Kurkalu village near Kaup on Sunday March 22, a girl student hanged herself after having been advised by her parents to concentrate more on ongoing examination.
Against all expectations, Deeksha (14), daughter of Narayana Tingalaya from Kurkalu Nooji resorted to this extreme step. She was a ninth standard student of Manipura government high school.
Deeksha was watching television programme along with parents and other siblings on Sunday. It is gathered that the student's father objected to her addiction to television even during the period her examination were in progress. The girl, hurt by this comment, ended her life by hanging herself. it is said.
A case was registered in this connection at Shirva police station. Investigation is continuing.
