Udupi, Feb 17: The government has given permission in principal for four lane road between Kundapur and Pavanje on National Highway 17 and the works will start within a year.
This was announced by district-in-charge minister Dr V S Acharya in a press conference held here on Friday February 16. He said that DPR in this regard is ready. "As there is enough land on both the sides of highway between Kundapur and Pavanje, I do not think that acquiring land will be difficult. Once some sensitive issues regarding this are studies bidding process will start which will be completed within 3-6 months. Once the work starts it will be completed in the next one year," he said.
He further said that the highway will be re-laid with favour finishing by the end of April this year. This was decided in a meeting held at Bangalore on February 15. Meeting was attended by DK distrct0-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty, Udupi DC Ponnuraj, DK DC Maheshwar Rao, National Highway chief engineer Doddihal, MLAs Jayaprakash Hegde, Lalaji Mendon, Krishna Palemar, Raghupati Bhat, Haladi Srinivas Shetty and Capt Ganesh Karnik.
