Mumbai, Feb 19: The Lioness Club of Vasant Vihar had their official visit recently at Chembur gymkhana here, wherein dignitaries from Lioness District Team too graced the function which is a part of the yearly event.
The club undertook many activities like helping the needy with sewing machines, anaajdaan and clothes for Bandra east community centre, who serve the poor street children, senior citizen around slums like Sidhharth Nagar where elderly people are disowned by their family members.
Aasma Khan, a girl from Balgrih, a children's home at Mankhurd, who received the Bravery Award from president A P J Abdul Kalam on Republic Day this year, was felicitated on the occasion. Aasma had carried two children on her shoulders and waded through the water during the 2005 floods in the city. She had saved almost 40 children then. She had also met Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Aasma dreams of being a pilot one day.
