Albania gear up for Euro qualifier against Armenia


Tirana (Albania), March 25 (IANS): Two daily training sessions and a friendly match on Thursday is the program that Albanian football coach Gianni De Biazi has worked out for his squad's preparation against Armenia in Euro qualifier on Sunday.

The Albanian Football Federation on Wednesday said that De Biasi made known to the players the programme and the training regime of this week, reports Xinhua.

Under the programme, the red and blacks will have two training sessions a day. A friendly match will take place on Thursday afternoon, while on Friday and Saturday, the team will hold a training session and a tactical preparation's meeting.

De Biasi has regrouped 28 selectees, where the newest name is notably that of defender Nasser KAlijii, a player who increases the variety of choices of Albania's Italian coach in defence.

The match between Albanian and Armenia will be played on Sunday, March 29, in "Elbasan Arena", ending the first qualifying round in Group I, with Albania ranking third behind Portugal and Denmark, ahead of Serbia and Armenia.

The squad:

Goalkeepers: Etrit Berisha, Alban Hoxha, Orges Shehi.

Defenders: Ansi Agolli, Arlind Ajeti, Naser Aliji, Lorik Cana, Debatik Curri, Elseid Hysaj, Andi Lila, Mergim Mavraj.

Midfielders: Armir Abrashi, Migjen Basha, Ervin Bulku, Ergys Kace, Burim Kukeli, Ermir Lenjani, Alban Meha, Ledian Memushaj, Valdet Rama, Odise Roshi, Herolind Shala, Taulant Xhaka.

Forwards: Bekim Balaj, Sokol Cikalleshi, Shkelzen Gashi, Armando Sadiku, Hamdi Salihi.
