Mangalore, Feb 19: Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy will organise week-long programmes as part of its decennial celebrations from Friday February 23 to Wednesday February 28.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday February 19, principal of the institute Prof Sreekumaran informed that state minister of health education Dr V S Acharya will be the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony while Nitte Education Trust chairman N Vinaya Hegde will preside.
Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) president Dr Ali Irani will be the guest of honour on the occasion.
IAP vice-president Prof Savita Ravindra will release a souvenir. Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy advisor Dr H Ravindranath will be felicitated.
On the same day, there will be seminar on ‘Towards Global Standards in Physiotherapy’ for which Dr Ali Irani will be the resource person. There will be seminars on other related topics also.
On Saturday February 24, an exhibition on Physiotherapy with the theme ‘Diabetes and Hypertension’ will be inaugurated by RGUHS senate member and AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences dean Dr U S Krishna Nayak.
On Sunday February 25, a rural Physiotherapy camp will be organised followed by continuing Physiotherapy education programme on Monday February 26.
The college day will be held on Tuesday February 27 for which the chief guest will be Nitte Education Trust managing trustee Vishal Hegde while the guest of honour will be MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik.
The week-long celebrations will culminate with graduation day ceremony on Wednesday February 28. Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde will be the chief guest while Vinay Hegde will preside.
