Explain pathetic condition of hospitals, demands Delhi minister

New Delhi, March 26 (IANS): Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain has sought explanations within a week from the medical superintendents of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini and Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital in Jahangirpuri on the pathetic state of affairs in their institutions.

During surprise visits to both the hospitals on Monday night, the minister noticed the pathetic condition of hygiene and sanitation, the city government said in a press release on Wednesday.

Jain went around the hospitals and spoke to patients and their attendants.

After his visit, he sought explanation from both the medical superintendents on their professional lapses.

It was brought to the notice of the minister that these top officials at both the hospitals were inaccessible and unavailable even during emergency, the release said.

"The Delhi government would strictly implement a policy of zero tolerance towards the lax attitude in providing quality healthcare to the patients. Insensitivity and careless attitude of those responsible for managing hospitals in Delhi will not be tolerated," the minister was quoted as saying.
