Rons Bantwal for Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai (SS)

Mumbai, Feb 21: Well-known Kannada teacher, children’s writer, Goregaon Karnataka Sangha’s former president  and trustee at present,  Dr Sunithi Udyavar (69), passed away on Monday February 19 evening at her residence, after a brief illness. 

Sunithi was the recipient of Y G Shetty ‘Best Teacher’ award for 2006. She had started writing novels at a very young age. 

She retired as a teacher in 1995 from N K E S School, Wadala, where she had joined in 1961.

Sunithi had studied in Besant School at Mangalore and later did teachers training.  An expert in Hindi language, she taught at Ganapathi High School at Mangalore for a year.

She was inspired by Dr Shivaram Karanth and had penned more than 50 plays for children.

Popular as a female writer, Sunithi played an active role in the success of Vichara Bharathi Sammelana of Goregaon Karnataka Sangha and Mahila Bharathi Sammelana.
