Tax offices to remain open on Saturday


New Delhi, March 27 (IANS): The government said on Friday that all field offices of customs, central excise and service tax shall remain open on March 28, Saturday, to facilitate filing of returns by e tax-payers.

"In view of closing of the current financial year, the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has decided to keep open all the field offices to facilitate the tax-payers in payment of taxes, filing returns and in carrying out other procedural formalities," the finance ministry said in a statement.

According to the statement, the special measure taken by the CBEC is in addition to the 24x7 facilities which is provided by the customs formations at the ports and airports.
