Beltangady, Feb 22: Two brothers were killed after the car they were travelling rolled down the gorge and fell into a field at Kavalkatte near here on Wednesday February 21 afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Janardhan Achar (60) and his brother Sanjeev Achar (45).  Their two other brother Raghav Ahcar (40) and Sitaram Achar (42) too have sustained critical injuries and are admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore.

All the four brothers had attended Nemotsava at Ninyar near Punjalkatte on Tuesday night.  Thereafter they had been to Shri Kalikamba Temple at Mangalore.  After offering puja in the temple all of them were returning when the accident took place.  The car rolled down the gorge after hitting a root of pipal tree near the Mudur-Padur Kambla field.

As a result Janardhan Achar who is also the eldest in the family died on the spot while Sanjeev breathed his last on his way to the hospital.  Their other brother Shyamraya Achar had got down at Bantwal owing to some urgent work which he later told that was a miraculous escape since he too was accompanying them from Tuesday night.

Janardhan Achar is survived by wife, son and a daughter while Sanjeev Achar is survived by wife and five children (three daughter and two sons).

The Beltangady police have registered a case in this regard.
