Bantwal, Feb 22: A housewife and her relative who were on their way to attend the some religious rituals were killed after being knocked down by a lorry at Mittur near Vittal here on Wednesday February 21.

Suman (32), wife of Balakrishna Bhat, a priest at Muger and Radhakrishna Bhat (32), son of Ananth Bhat of Muger were killed after a speeding lorry hit their bike on the Mani-Mysore state highway at Mittur.

Radhakrishna and Suman had been to Sullia earlier.  It was from Sullia that they were coming back via Puttur when the accident occurred.  Some religious rites were being performed in one Prafulla's house at Mittur where Suman's husband Balakrishna Bhat was present.  He asked his relative and fellow priest Radhakrishna Bhat to bring his wife.

While Suman died on the spot, Radhakrishna died later in the hospital.  Suman had married Balakrishna Bhat only a year ago.

Vittal police have registered a case in this regard.  However, the lorry driver is still at large.
