Mangalore, Feb 23: The annual children’s census will be carried out from Monday February 26 to Wednesday February 28, said DDPI Shankarappa while addressing a press meet at the Information Department here on Thursday February 22.
The census will be conducted under the auspices of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and will be aimed at bringing dropouts and children who are not going to school in to the mainstream education.
Unlike previous years when the census was carried out only for children aged between 6-14 years, this year new-borns to children of 13 years of age will be considered.
Schools will be closed on account of the census. A total of 5,624 teachers have been asked to carry out the census duty.
