Udupi, Mar 30: MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary laid the foundation stone for the new village panchayat building at Udyavar, here on Saturday March 28.

MLC Poojary also inaugurated other development works at Udyavar panchayat.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “State government should waive off all MESCOM debts of Rs 3, 500 crores of 5,000 village panchayats in the state. Due to technical problem, government has delayed in sanctioning funds for the development of various panchayats. Many panchayats are lagging behind in developmental works. The released funds from the government are not enough to bear all the expenses of panchayats. State government should increase the fund amounts for the development of panchayats”.

Kota Srinivas said, “As many as 400 village panchayats come under Kundapur constituency. The funds from MLC’s office are limited to developmental work of his area. So he is not able to share the funds with other village panchayats. The government has granted Rs 1 crore for the construction work”.
