Jones named head coach of Germany women's football team

Berlin, March 30 (IANS): Former German international Steffi Jones is going to replace Silvia Neid as the head coach of German women's national team, according to German football federation on Monday.

The 42-year-old Jones was a member of the Germany women's team which claimed the World Cup title in 2003. She played 111 matches as an international and collected three European titles and two Olympic bronze medals, reports Xinhua.

"The new structure means that we're ready for the future," said German football federation president Wolfgang Niersbach.

Neid's contract was to expire in 2016.
