Udupi, Mar 31: Women Beauty Experts Association, Udupi organized a conference for women’s beauty experts which was held for the first time in coastal Karnataka on Tuesday March 31 at Sri Durga International Hotel in the city.

Anitha Sherli, founder and president of All Karnataka Beauty Parlours' Association, Bengaluru lit the lamp.
In her inaugural address she said, “I am very happy to be part of this convention. At present the beauty and parlour concept have changed. The association started with 10 members and now this service has extended throughout the state. Parlour does not just mean pedicure, manicure, hairstyle, bleaching. Clients now have more knowledge of cosmetics. The membership of any association increases by chain system. The association guides the needy. A person doesn’t know his potential but by joining an association he will develop intellectually.”

Another guest Vanitha N Thorvi, member of Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KCPCR) said, “We should be proud to be a woman. Woman is not a curse to society, she is not a thing, and she is very powerful, intellectual and hard working. A woman is the eye of society who has fought for her existence in this world.”

Thorvi emphasized that, as many as 28% of ladies are working as auto, bus and truck drivers in Bengaluru. Unity is important in any organization to develop confidence among its members.

The Udupi Association was established on October 2, 2010 to empower women and to provide qualitative service to society.

In the one day convention there was a session on technology, training, problems of beauticians and other information.

Maria Moli Fernandez, president of WSEU presided over the programme.
