Mangalore, Feb 24: A training programme on ‘Right to Information Act’ for officers was organised jointly by the district administration and Rotary Club at Town Hall here recently.

Speaking on the occasion, High Court judge (retd) and columnist Dr Shankar Khanderi said stressed on the need to do away or amend old bills and acts in the Constitution. He said that some of the laws were formed during the British rule in India and hence needed to be reformed.

He also welcomed the amendment in the RTI Act in 2005 which states punishment for officials who deny information to the public.

The programme was inaugurated by head quarters assistant Ashok G Bhat. Among those present were Rotary district governor A Krishna Shetty and secretary Sadashiva Shetty.
