Mangalore, Feb 25: The Central Excise Day was celebrated under the auspices of Central Excise and Service Tax Commissionerate in Shanti Nilaya hall at Balmatta here on Saturday, Februaty 24.

Kasturba Medical College Mangalore dean Dr C K Raghuveer was the chief guest on the occasion. Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs in Mangalore Dr John Joseph IRS presided over the function.

Commissioner of central excise (appeals) Jai Prakash IRS, MRPL managing director R Rajamani, MRPL vice president (finance) P S Ravindran, KCCI chairman Capt John Prasad Menezes, Udupi DCCI president Gujjady Prabhakar Nayak and Kanara Small-scale Industries Association president K Ramachandra Bhat were the guests of honour.

A souvenir was released on the occasion. Certificates of appreciation to the assessees, commendation certificates to officers and mementoes to the guests were also presented.

The function ended with a cultural programme.
