Kundapur, Feb 25: Journalism and the Rotary are two complimentary means to do social service for the welfare of society. These two means enlighten the general public in the matter of welfare measures. The present day Journalism is at cross roads and as a result it holds the gigantic responsibility of reflecting the hopes and aspirations of the people.

 

Quoting the words of Rotarian S Sadananda Chatra, the Governor of the Rotary District 3180, it may be said that it is certainly a matter of pride to know that Journalism and the Rotary strive for the welfare of humanity at large.

 

A university level seminar on Journalism at Viveka Junior College, Kota was held under the joint auspices of Rotary Club, Kota and Saligram Association of Journalists, Brahmavar. The chief guests were S Sadananda Chatra and U K Kumarnath, Resident Editor of Vijaya Karnataka.

 

Umesh Prabhu, the President of the Rotary Club Kota-Saligram welcomed the chief guests. Speaking on the occasion, U K Kumarnath threw light on the problems of rural areas and said a general awareness through journals and periodicals should be created as to minimize the difference between the urban and rural regions.

Chairman of Rotary Club, Chandrashekar Mendon, Assistant Rotary Governor D Gopal Krishna Kamath, President of Journalists’ Association of Brahmavar Chittur Prabhakar Acharya, Harsharaj, Secretary of The Journalists’ Association and Arun B S Gundmi were also present.

The seminar witnessed over 100 participants.
