Puttur, Feb 25: Motorcyclist Janardan Gowda (29), a resident of Charvaka in the taluk, was hit by a KSRTC Rajahamsa bus arriving from Bangalore near the Darbe bypass on early Sunday morning around five and fatally injured.

Because of excessive bleeding, he died before he could be taken to the hospital. The deceased is said to have been employed with Maria Farms in Puttur.

The Puttur-bound bus had just entered the city and stopped over to let a passenger alight. As it picked up speed, it hit the motorcycle. With the impact the rider was thrown to the ground. The story is all the more poignant because he had purchased a land for Rs 6 lac and it was to be registered in his name on Monday. His father reportedly got married the second time and Janardan was staying with his mother.

Now the mother is desolate without a bread-winner.
