Mangaluru: Rain, lightning, at various places in twin-districts

Mangaluru, Apr 2: Subrahmanya in Sullia taluk and villages surrounding it have been receiving rain regularly since the last five days. On Wednesday April 1 evening, rain drenched various places in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.

Sullia, Puttur, and Kadaba also received rain on Wednesday. Hebri and Ajekar received light rain with lightning. Most of coastal Karnataka was enveloped in cloudy climate with occasional drizzle.

Lightning which accompanied rain on Tuesday night burnt down 75 areca nut trees owned by Kalleri Anand Gowda at Kadaba. Due to lightning, walls of a house developed cracks, and electrical and electronic equipment and wiring got burnt. This loss was suffered by Dharnappa Gowda, brother of Anand Gowda.
