New Delhi, Apr 2 (Sources) : India’s middle order batsman, Suresh Raina looks all set to be hitched on April 3 to his childhood sweetheart Priyanka Chaudhary. The 28-year-old Cricketer, who is Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) best bet, got engaged to Meerut-based fiancee on April 1, Wednesday. The high-profile ceremony was attended by Raina’s close friend and cricketer Virat Kohli along with his actress girlfriend Anushka Sharma.
The engagement took place in Ghaziabad in the presence of his friends and family. The wedding that is to take place on April 3, Friday at the five-star Hotel Leela Palace in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav rumored to attend the marriage ceremony.
Rumours of Raina’s marriage was doing the rounds ever since the Indian cricketer departed for national duty in Australia and New Zealand for the ICC World Cup 2015. The roka ceremony was held on Thursday, March 12 at Godwin hotel in Meerut. There has been a buzz regarding the information and pictures of Raina’s better half in media.
Suresh Raina is a Kashmiri Pandit who shifted to Ghaziabad around 1980 while Priyanka Chaudhary and her family belong to Baraut in Uttar Pradesh. They later shifted to Meerut. Priyanka is said to be the daughter of a close friend of Suresh Raina’s mother, while their fathers were colleagues in a private firm.
Priyanka Chaudhary has done B.Tech from Krishna Institute of Engineering and Technology (KIET) in Ghaziabad. She has two brothers – Abhishek Choudhary and Vivek Choudhary, who are working as software engineers in Chennai and Greater Noida respectively.
Priyanka has been a independent girl who was earlier working in Bengaluru and also had a stint in the Netherlands. But there has also been strong rumours regarding Priyanka to leave her job post marriage.
Suresh Raina was last romantically linked to actress Shruti Hasan but all those rumours can be put to rest now. While many claim that Suresh Raina’s marriage to Priyanka as an arranged marriage, a section also reveal that the childhood friends were in love after Raina meeting her in Bangalore during his travels as a Cricketer.
Priyanka has maintained quite a low-profile despite being would be wife of a famous cricketer. It will be quite interesting to watch her cheer her husband during the upcoming IPL 8 beginning from April 8. Chennai Super Kings begin their campaign in the edition from April 9 with a match against Delhi Daredevils.
