Vistara launches flight service between Delhi-Guwahati

New Delhi, April 2 (IANS): Tata's full service passenger carrier Vistara Thursday launched its inaugural flight from New Delhi to Guwahati.

"We've had lots of customers asking us to fly to the eastern India over the past month, so we're delighted to launch this new route in response to the customer demand," said Phee Teik Yeoh, Vistara chief executive.

"The addition of this route reaffirms our commitment to promote regional connectivity in India, and contribute to the government's efforts to boost trade and opening up development avenues for people in these regions," he said.

The new flight marks the airline's foray into the eastern and northeastern sectors. The airline will operate daily flights on the Delhi-Guwahati-Bagdogra-Delhi route.

In a span of three months, Vistara has already expanded its operations with the addition of Goa, Hyderabad and Pune to it route network.

Currently, the airline operates from Delhi to seven destinations- Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Goa, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Bagdogra and between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The airline will soon commence flights to Pune from April 9, 2015.

The airline added that its fleet will grow to six aircraft this month and nine by the end of this year.
