Kabul, April 2 (IANS): A suicide bombing rocked Afghanistan's Khost province on Thursday, leaving 17 people dead and injuring 50 others, including a parliamentarian, an official said.
"Preliminary reports said that 17 people have lost their lives in the blast and some 50 others injured," Xinhua news agency quoted provincial police chief Faizullah Ghairat as telling reporters at provincial capital Khost city where the attack took place.
The deadly bombing occurred when hundreds of people were staging a demonstration against provincial Governor Jabar Naeemi and demanding his removal, the police chief added.
A member of parliament, Hamayun Hamayoon, is also among those injured in the deadly attack, Ghairat said.
