Mangalore, Feb 27: Kudmul Ranga Rao Hostel near PVS Circle here has enough reasons to hit news headlines often.  While in the last year the hostel remained in news headlines for the irregularities and mismanagement, this year it has now made news for another bizarre incident.

Two inmates of the hostel attempted to end their life by consuming kerosene on Tuesday February 27 morning.  However, they were immediately admitted to Wenlock Hospital where they are recuperating.

Sources said that Pavitra and Shakuntala who consumed kerosene in their statement have said that they took this extreme step after being tortured by warden and the cook of Kudmul Ranga Rao Hostel. 

The girls said that the warden and the cook abused them verbally and tormented them in various other ways.  "When it was just too much for us to bear, we took this extreme step of ending our life," they said.
