Mumbai, Feb 27: Notorious gangster and underworld don Ramesh Upadhyaya alias Bava alias Jemmie was arrested by the crime branch police inspector Prakash Bhandary. Jemmie was also behind the recent Canara Bank robbery in Nerul, Navi Mumbai here.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team led by inspector Bhandary arrested Jemmie at Mac Donald’s near Nerul police station on the Pune-Mumbai highway.
Later, on being questioned at the police station, Jemmie admitted to having robbed Canara Bank and stolen cash worth about Rs 9 lac.
On further questioning he revealed that he was involved in more than 15 crimes in the city, Pune, Hyderabad and other places. He is also the prime accused in the murder of gangster Krishna Devendra in Shivdi here., and in robberies that took place at Pune’s Solahpur Janata Cooperative Bank and two jewellery shops.
He has been remanded to judicial custody till March 15.
